Kikino Celebration Days and Rodeo

 

Dates:  August 14 to August 17, 2008

 

Location:  Sliver Birch Resort, Kikino, AB.


The Kikino Celebration Days and Rodeo is held every year during on the third weekend of August.


The event includes a rodeo that is one of the biggest in northeastern Alberta. There are four evenings of pony chariot and chuck wagon races, as well as a variety of novelty races & three days of top notch amateur rodeo performances. For the kids there is pony rides and children's festival.


Also available is a steak supper on Saturday and Sunday as well as a Talent show and evening Jamboree and dancing.


To close the celebrations on Sunday evening we provide a world class fireworks performance on the shore of Whitefish Lake.

Annual Snowflake Festival

Date:  February 18, 2008 (Held annually on  Family Day Monday in February).

Location:  Sliver Birch Resort, Kikino, AB.

 


Come join us for a fun filled day that includes a fish derby, quad rally, kids games and a bonfire and free hot dog roast.

There are tons of fun things to do and see all within an hour's drive from the Silver Birch Resort.

You can visit the historic village of Vilna which is only 40 minutes away on highway 28. Take the time to explore this beautifully restored boom town which features a Billiards shop that takes you back in time!


Or take a free tour of the Aboriginal Arts Collection at Portage College in Lac La Biche (40 minutes drive on highway 36) and buy authentic handmade Native Arts and Crafts at their General Store. While you're at it, stay and make a Native Craft (Please arrange this at the Silver Birch before visiting).


Go back in time by visiting the Metis Crossing which is an hour’s drive from Kikino, just south of Smoky Lake on highway 855. Learn all about the unique history and culture of the Metis in the beautiful setting on the banks of the North Saskatchewan River. It is an experience that can't be missed!
